What is Caribbean Museums Toolkits?

Caribbean Museums Toolkits is a free, adaptable and shareable resource for Caribbean practitioners and communities across all cultural spaces in the region!

Developed by Natalie McGuire as part of her PhD in Cultural Studies at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus, this site aims to further foster a community of practice for Caribbean museum practitioners and communities.

Who can contribute?

Museology is described by ICOFOM as being “concerned with the theoretical approach to any individual or collective human activity related to the preservation, interpretation and communication of our cultural and natural heritage, and with the social context in which a specific man/object relationship takes place.” Therefore, the term museum can encompass all cultural spaces related to the activity as described by ICOFOM such as grassroots cultural spaces, artist-led initiatives, and online platforms, as well as formal heritage institutions. We welcome submissions from practitioners working in relation to any of these spaces in and with the Caribbean, and the communities who encounter them.

How can I contribute?
